Authorities in Monterey County recently arrested a man in connection to an alleged road rage incident late last month.

According to a press release by the Marina Police Department, the incident happened shortly before 7:30 on the morning of Thursday, March 30th, in the area of Del monte Boulevard and Palm Avenue.

Marina Police and Fire responded to the scene to investigate a report of an accident involving injury. They reportedly discovered that one of the involved vehicles was in the driveway of the Marina Fire Department, and the other across the street.

Investigators believe that the collision was the result of a road rage incident that began in nearby Salinas, and that it had ultimately resulted in a collision at the intersection of Del Monte Boulevard and Reservation Road in Marina.

Following the initial collision, the suspect driver then allegedly began rear-ending the victim’s vehicle repeatedly, pushing their vehicle through the intersection and onto Del Monte Boulevard, police said.

The victim then reportedly tried to escape by making a U-turn across the center median. The suspect driver then headed for the Marina Police Department, while at the same time, the victim called 9-1-1.

Damage to the victim’s vehicle

By the time police were involved, both parties were essentially at their doorstep.

After gathering information from both parties and witnesses, investigators determined that the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Hector Guillen of Greenfield, had intentionally rammed the victim’s vehicle after the initial collision. As a result of this, the victim sustained minor injuries. The vehicle also sustained moderate damage, police said.

Guillen was ultimately arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the Monterey County jail, with bond set at $30,000.

Though an arrest has been made, Marina PD encourages potential witnesses or anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact the department at 831-384-7575.
