Domestic Violence & Weapons Arrest in Goleta

GOLETA, CA  —  September 25, 2025 — What began with 911 call in the predawn hours of Sept. 22 ended with a Goleta man in
custody and an arsenal of firearms seized from his home.

According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Raquel
Zick, the ordeal started around 5:48 a.m., when a woman told dispatchers that her partner, 41-
year-old Goleta resident Patrick Kennedy,41, “had threatened to kill her.”

While waiting for the arrival of law enforcement, the victim “fled from the home.”

Deputies who arrived at the residence tried to make contact with Kennedy.

He refused to answer the door, choosing instead to communicate through his Ring doorbell camera.

As investigators pieced together the night’s events, they learned Kennedy had spent hours
“handling firearms” before roaming his neighborhood in a ski mask.

Deputies also discovered he had made repeated threats against the victim and, in a separate incident, had allegedly threatened
a neighbor with a replica hand grenade.

Seven hours later, at approximately 1p.m., Kennedy stepped outside and was taken into
custody “without further violence.”

He was transported to Santa Barbara County Jail and was booked on charges including assault by strangulation, false imprisonment, domestic battery,
criminal threats, child endangerment, and brandishing a firearm.

Later in the day, a search warrant for Kennedy’s home was obtained and executed, whereupon
deputies confiscated “10 rifles, a shotgun, four pistols, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.”

Kennedy is being held on enhanced bail set at $500,000.
