LIVERMORE — A suspect extradited from Mexico is charged with committing two murders at
a Livermore hotel.
Yonstone E. Vazquez, 31, of Oakland, is being held in custody at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail.
The suspect’s apprehension is the culmination of nearly a 16-month investigation conducted
by Livermore police.
Vasquez was taken into custody by Mexican law enforcement, with assistance from the FBI on August 20.
“Vasquez was extradited to Alameda County later the same night,” Livermore police said in a
prepared statement. He was booked at 5:31 p.m. at the county lockup for two counts of
murder, stalking, and related charges.
Two victims were pronounced dead as a result of gunshot wounds. They were killed at La
Quinta Inn, 7700 Southfront Road in Livermore.
Police found both victims inside a hotel room, a 26-year-old woman from Oakland and 21-year-old man from Hayward.
Livermore police responded to a report of a shooting on the morning of April 27, 2024. An
extensive investigation was conducted by the Livermore Police Department’s criminal
investigations bureau.
Officers, detectives and specialized units all participated in the investigation. Investigators
identified Vasquez as the suspect, and determined that he knew one of the victims.
“The suspect would not be custody without the efforts of the FBI and our our partnership. This
arrest represents the relentless pursuit of justice,” Livermore Chief of Police Jeramy Young
said in a prepared statement.
