Individual Arrested for Allegedly Shining Laser at Merced County Sheriff Helicopter
MERCED, CA — An individual in Merced County was arrested for allegedly shining a laser at a law enforcement helicopter.
On the night of Saturday, Aug. 9, a sheriff’s office helicopter was on night patrol over Merced when someone allegedly shined a laser at it, according to a sheriff’s office press release. The pilot guided units on the ground to the source of the laser.
Authorities reportedly also found the laser device with the suspect.
The suspect was taken into custody by Merced police officers and the laser seized as evidence, according to the sheriff’s office.
