Merced Police Make Attempted Kidnapping Arrest

“Merced – On May 12th, Merced Police Department officers arrested Angelo White (30) for an attempted kidnapping that occurred in the parking lot of the Rancho San Miguel Market.

At approximately 4:22 PM, officers responded to 1930 E. Yosemite Parkway after receiving a call of an attempted kidnapping.

The first officer on-scene located White in the nearby area and apprehended him after a short foot pursuit. It was reported White approached the victim from behind while she was trying to get into her vehicle. White grabbed the victim by the arm and pulled her across the parking lot.

The victim was able to break free and later assisted officers by identifying her attacker.

The motive for the attack is unknown. White and the victim have no relation. White was arrested for attempted kidnapping and booked into custody at the Merced County Jail.

The 28-year-old victim was not injured during the incident.”
