Felony evading, hit-and-run suspect sought by Merced Police

“On 05-16-20, at approximately 0926 hours, Merced Police Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the 1100 block of West 16th Street.

Initially the vehicle stopped and the driver identified himself verbally as Jeremy Montemorano (39). Montemorano is on probation from Stanislaus County. Officers asked Montemorano to exit the vehicle at which time he drove off at a high rate of speed.

Officers gave chase but cancelled the pursuit due to public safety concerns. After the pursuit was terminated, Montemorano struck a vehicle in the 1100 block of West 15th Street. There were no injuries caused from the collision.

Montemorano was not apprehended and is wanted for felony evading, probation violation, driving with expired registration, and hit and run.

Merced Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this crime to contact Officer Leah Garcia at (209) 388-7749.”
