Documented Gang Member Arrested with Loaded Firearm After Bicycle Pursuit in Yuba City
YUBA CITY, CA — “On July 11th, 2025, at approximately 11:21 PM, A Yuba City Police Officer was patrolling the area of Plumas Street near The Happy Viking when he attempted to stop a bicyclist for multiple traffic violations. The bicyclist, later identified as 24-year-old Guillermo Soto-Guzman of Yuba City, who is a documented Norteno gang member, fled from the officer, leading to a short pursuit.
As Mr. Soto-Guzman reached the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Walnut Street, he ditched his bike and attempted to flee on foot. The officer pursuing Mr. Soto-Guzman quickly caught up to him and was able to detain him.
Mr. Soto-Guzman is currently on Sutter County Probation for a previous weapons violation. During a search of Mr. Soto-Guzman’s backpack, officers located a loaded .357 Magnum revolver.
Mr. Soto-Guzman was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including:
• 21650.1 VC – Riding a bicycle against the flow of traffic
• 148(a)(1) PC – Resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer
• 29800(a)(1) PC – Felon in possession of a firearm
• 25400(a)(2) PC – Carrying a concealed firearm on person
• 25850(a) PC – Carrying a loaded firearm in a public place
• 30305(a)(1) PC – Prohibited person in possession of ammunition
• 1203.2(a) PC – Violation of probation
This is another excellent example of proactive police work by Yuba City police officers removing a loaded firearm from the streets, which could have prevented a violent incident.
