“On Thursday morning, 01/18/2024, around 3:30am, our deputies initiated a traffic stop on a 2014 Nissan Altima on Bogue Road and Highway 99 in Yuba City, for failing to maintain lanes. Upon attempting to stop the Nissan, the Nissan failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated. Sutter County Deputies were staged ahead of the pursuit and successfully deployed a spike strip on the Nissan. The development was successful, and the vehicle started to slow down in speed. Upon making a complete stop, two passengers jumped out of the Nissan. The two passengers were detained upon exit and the Nissan continued to flee.

The driver of the Nissan then continued onto Central Ave in Yuba City and stopped, exited the vehicle, and attempted to run. Sutter County K9 Sergeant deployed his K9 Partner, but the subject surrendered without further incident. The subject was identified as 24-year-old, Santiago Romero of Live Oak. Romero was charged with Resisting an Executive Order, Evading in a Reckless Manner, Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Not Firearm), Possession of a Controlled Substance and Reckless Driving.”
