UNION CITY, CA — A recently arrested Denver woman allegedly drown her newborn baby in
Union City 16 years ago.
Angela B. Onduto, 46, is being held in custody at the Downtown Detention Facility in Denver, pending extradition to California.
Union City detectives coordinated with Denver police who arrested Onduto on July 2, Union
City police said in a prepared statement.
“Union City detectives are working to extradite her to Alameda County, where court proceedings will move forward.”
The newborn baby’s body was discovered on May 18, 2009. It was found by a man looking
for recyclables inside a garbage dumpster at the Parkside Apartments on Decoto Road.
Onduto allegedly drown the girl baby inside her apartment and discarded her body inside the
dumpster.
Onduto was a “person of interest” during the early stages of the investigation. However, the
case went cold. Union City detectives identified Onduto as the “potential” suspect, based on
analysis of DNA evidence that was collected in 2009.
Further more advanced DNA analysis recently “confirmed” the identity of Onduto as the
suspect living in Denver. Charges were delayed pending further forensic analysis and detailed
review of the medical examiner’s findings.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue to follow up leads to find potential
witnesses. However, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has already filed one
charge for murder against Onduto.
