Felon Arrested in San Luis Obispo with Suspected 3D-Printed Firearm

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA  —  “On Friday, June 13, 2025 around 11:20 pm, staff at the arcade on the 600 block of Higuera told one of the bicycle patrol officers they saw a male with a firearm in his waistband. Officers located the male a short time later walking down Nipomo Street near Pacific and detained him. During a search of the male, identified as 18-year-old Juan Vargus-Tufino of San Luis Obispo, officers located a handgun in the waistband of his pants. The gun did not have a serial number, the magazine was not loaded, and the lower portion of the gun appeared to be after-market or 3D printed.

Vargas-Tufino, who is on probation for prior felony convictions, was arrested for PC 29800(a)(1) Felony – felon in possession of a firearm, PC 25400(a)(2) Felony – Carrying a concealed firearm, and PC 24610 – Felony – Possession of an undetectable firearm, and transported to SLO County Jail. He remains in custody at the time of this post.”
