Bank Robber Turns Self in

A man walked into the San Luis Obispo Police Station on Tuesday morning and turned himself into police for allegedly robbing two banks within the last two weeks.

According to SLOPD, Steven Celaya, 32, of San Luis Obispo told police he was the suspect they were looking for.

Celaya allegedly told police he robbed the Bank of America in Atascadero on June 7 and the Chase Bank in SLO on May 25.

Police say the investigation has corroborated Celaya’s account of the robberies.

According to SLOPD, a search warrant was served at Celaya’s residence and evidence was recovered. Police say the investigation is still ongoing and additional details are not available for release at this time.

According to press releases the Bank of America branch in Atascadero is located on Capistrano Avenue and the SLO Chase Bank branch is located on 445 Madonna Road.

It is unknown if Celaya had any accomplices. Further information is expected to be released shortly.
