CHP Reportedly Seizes 13 Pounds of Cocaine During Traffic Stop in Merced County
FIREBAUGH, CA — Authorities in Merced County reportedly seized over ten pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop last week.
According to a press release by the California Highway Patrol, a K-9 team pulled over a rental vehicle along northbound I-5, near Nees Avenue in Firebaugh, on the afternoon of April 10th for a vehicle code violation.
The officer reportedly smelled the odor of burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle, resulting in probable cause to search it.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officer reportedly discovered about 13 pounds of suspected cocaine in the rear cargo area.
All three of the vehicle’s occupants were arrested at the scene and booked on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale and transportation of cocaine across noncontiguous counties, authorities said.
