One 18-Year-Old and a Juvenile Arrested in Connection with a Shooting

SAN RAFAEL — A second suspect has been apprehended in connection with a shooting, which sent a gunshot victim to a hospital. The first suspect, a juvenile, surrendered himself on May 29. The second suspect Andy I. Arevalo, 18, was arrested on May 30. 

The shooting occurred May 25 at approximately 2:39 p.m. Multiple callers reported a disturbance on the 500 block of D Street. A few minutes later, a multiple vehicle collision was reported nearby on the 500 block of B Street. 

Officers responding to the shooting found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, officers responding to the vehicle accident arrived as two suspects were seen running away from the scene. 

Although the suspects involved fled before officers arrived, evidently there are witnesses. San Rafael police said in a prepared statement. “Based on our initial investigation these two incidents are connected.” 

The unidentified male juvenile was at booked at Marin County Juvenile Hall. He faces charges for conspiracy to commit a crime, and for aiding and abetting in commission of a crime. 

Arevalo the second suspect is a resident of San Rafael and works as a cook. He was arrested near the San Rafael Fire Department at 1375 Fifth Avenue. Arevalo was booked at Marin County Jail, where he remains in custody. Arevalo faces open felony charges for attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
