SAN RAFAEL— The Marin Specialized Investigative Unit arrested two persons, searched an apartment, and seized firearms and illicit drugs. Detectives found hundreds of rounds of ammunition, along with suspected cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and oxycodone.

Marin County Sheriff’s Office coordinated this law enforcement operation. Agencies participating in the specialized unit include California Highway Patrol, Novato police, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The search was conducted at the Bella Vista Apartments on Channing Way in San Rafael.

Alson S. Conkey, a 58-year-old exterminator, had in his possession unregistered handguns, one shotgun and a stolen assault rifle. Detectives also confiscated brass knuckles when they searched the apartment. Conkey is a previously convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.

Conkey was booked on January 4th on drug- and weapons-related charges. He remains in custody at Marin County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond. This is the fifth time that Conkey has been arrested for drug- related offenses since 2017.

Another person at the apartment, Jessica E. Dwyer, 40, was also arrested. Dwyer was arrested for two outstanding warrants. She was booked for identity theft, receiving stolen property, petty theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dwyer is no longer listed in custody at the Marin jailhouse.

Dwyer has six prior arrests since 2020, including three arrests in 2023. Her previous arrests were for conspiracy to commit crime, possession of a controlled substance, thefts, and other offenses.
