Arrests Made in Connection with a Stabbing Attack in September

 

NOVATO — Four persons have been arrested in connection with a stabbing last month. One of the suspects was already in jail for unrelated charges when he was arrested for the stabbing.

Two persons were accosted on Leafwood Drive in Novato on September 19. One victim suffered multiple stab wounds but survived the attack.

Novato officers spoke with witnesses and located evidence. Arrest warrants were
obtained for –
Devin Rodas, 18 of San Rafael
Charlie Mazariegos, 18 of Sacramento
Jeffrey Garcia, 18 of San Rafael
 Vanessa Venegas-Palma, 18 of San Rafael

Rodas was detained by San Rafael PD on October 13. He was arrested by Novato police at the Gateway Business Center on Irwin Street in San Rafael. He remains in custody at Marin County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.

Rodas faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon and exhibiting a deadly weapon. In addition, he faces charges for false imprisonment and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Mazariegos was arrested September 30 inside Sonoma County Jail, where he was in custody for an unrelated arrest one day earlier. His residence and a vehicle associated with the stabbing were searched for evidence.

Mazariegos faces charges for attempted murder, assault likely to cause great bodily injury, and conspiracy to a commit a crime. He remains in custody in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Garcia was taken into custody by Novato police with assistance from San Rafael PD. Garcia was arrested September 21, however he is no longer in custody. He faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Vanegas-Palma was arrested September 21. She was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, but she was subsequently released and not charged.
