NOVATO — Police have announced the arrest of a man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly shot at an occupied vehicle late last month.

Just after 10:30 PM on Saturday, September 28, officers responded to the area of Boling Drive and Captain Nurse Circle to investigate numerous reports of gunfire.

Witnesses flagged them down and pointed out a white Honda Accord on Captain Nurse Circle.

Police stopped the vehicle and detained its lone occupant, 30-year-old Andrew Nicolas Gibbs of Berkeley, and found a black Ruger 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the driver’s door.

Two victims, a 30-year-old man from Antioch and a 27-year-old woman from Novato, were also contacted at the scene and reported that Gibbs had fired several shots at them as the drove eastbound on Bolling Drive, striking the driver’s headrest, the driver’s door, front passenger door, and window.

Fortunately, neither of them were hit.

Investigators determined that Gibbs and one of the victims were acquainted, and that the shooting had been prompted by some sort of dispute.

Gibbs has since been booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
