“Last night, Greenfield officers responded to a report of a man brandishing a firearm at a juvenile.
Upon arrival, our officers faced resistance, resulting in minor injuries to one of our officers who required hospitalization. We are pleased to report that the officer was released from the hospital after a couple of hours.
Through a joint effort from your Greenfield officers, the Soledad Police Department, the King City Police Department, the California Highway Patrol (CHP – King City), and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, we managed to detain 34-year-old Brenda Arias of Greenfield and 35-year-old Manuel Ramos of Soledad.
Our investigation uncovered that Ramos brandished a firearm at a juvenile, leading Arias to assault the juvenile and another adult. As Arias committed her assaults, Ramos retreated into the residence with the firearm.
Greenfield detectives took over the investigation, and with the assistance of Marina Police Department’s K9 Unit, a search warrant was served. During the search, we uncovered a loaded Springfield .40 caliber handgun, ammunition, scales, and over 142 grams of Xanax pills.
Arias and Ramos face several serious charges, including felony child abuse, preventing someone from calling 911, felon in possession of a firearm, threats to a police officer, battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance while armed. Both have been transported to the Monterey County Jail.
