A swimming pool technician on parole was placed under arrest at North Gate Mall. The suspect was allegedly carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a felony. Jajuan M. Ojeda, a 24- year-old resident of San Rafael, is in custody at Marin County Jail.

Ojeda, who until recently maintained swimming pools in Marin County, is on state hold for felony parole violation. San Rafael officers responding to a shoplifting report confiscated a homemade firearm, a so- called “ghost gun” from him.

Police arrested Ojeda inside a department store. He was taken into custody December 9 at 8:05 p.m. An identification check revealed he is a convicted felon prohibited from having any kind of firearm. He was booked on open charges for a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm with intent to commit a felony.

Ojeda and a lady accompanying him were observed layering and concealing merchandise. A juvenile with them was found wearing clothing that the adults put on them. Police recovered the clothing from the kid.

The woman with Ojeda was found in possession of store merchandise tucked inside her pocketbook. She was detained and an identification check revealed her two outstanding felony arrest warrants. So she was also arrested. Merchandise from her recovered as well.

Incidentally, Ojeda has three prior arrests on his record. In 2018, he was arrested for assault with a firearm, robbery, carjacking and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. His other arrests were for wanton disregard for public safety and resisting/obstructing an officer.
