In the last few days, WPD Officers have seized four guns after serving a search warrant and responding to reports of shots fired.

We’ll start with the most recent incident. Officers served a search warrant at the home of a gang associate on the 100 block of Seneca Ct. on Tuesday. Here, they found two guns– one reported stolen–several magazines, ammunition boxes, gang indicia, and a police scanner. The suspect, Ricardo Martinez-Lara, 25, was booked into county jail.

In an unrelated case, Officers responded to Holly Dr. for multiple reports of shots fired at about 11:30PM Monday. Witnesses provided a possible description of the suspect’s vehicle, which an officer in the area spotted. The driver and passenger took off running as soon as the Officer pulled over the car. The Officer caught up to the passenger, who tossed a gun while running. The driver was later arrested at his home, where a second firearm was seized.

During the investigation, Officers were notified of a 19-year-old victim being treated at a local hospital for a single gunshot wound. That person is expected to recover. The teen suspects were booked into Juvenile Hall on gun and assault-related charges.
