Bay Area Man and Pawn Shop Owner Face Charges in Alleged Theft and Sales of Stolen Property

Authorities in San Joaquin County have announced the arrests of two people in connection to the alleged thefts and sales of stolen property.

On April 1, law enforcement officials reported a vehicle burglary that took place in the Lincoln Center Parking lot in Stockton. The Sheriff’s Office swiftly initiated an investigation, leading to the identification of the primary suspect as DeShawn Leandrei Allen, who is reportedly a validated gang member from Richmond. With the involvement of the Special Services Division, a search warrant was obtained, Allen’s residence was searched, and he was ultimately taken into custody.

During the investigation, authorities seized Allen’s cell phone and reportedly uncovered incriminating communication between him and Urias Joram Hernandez Ochoa, the owner of Oromax Pawn Shop in Richmond. The exchanged messages reportedly included photographs of stolen items, which Allen was allegedly attempting to sell to Ochoa.

As a result, a search warrant was executed at the Oromax Pawn Shop, leading to the discovery of a significant quantity of stolen goods, ranging from cellular devices and laptops to cameras and more.

Ochoa was arrested in connection with the investigation and later released on his own recognizance. Law enforcement officials seized all recovered items, which have since been transported to the Sheriff’s Office for further processing and to identify potential victims of the crimes.

DeShawn Leandrei Allen faces charges of second-degree burglary, grand theft exceeding $950, possession of burglary tools, vandalism, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy. Urias Joram Hernandez Ochoa faces charges of conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone who may have fallen victim to a recent burglary to come forward and help in the identification process. They advise individuals to provide detailed information about their stolen items, including descriptions, serial numbers, and any identifiable markings.

It was unclear at press time whether either of the defendants have retained an attorney.

The Sheriff’s Office said that a large number of the items had been stolen from visitors and travelers to the Bay Area, some from as far away as the east coast. The Sheriff’s Office has set up a public Dropbox file and has encouraged anyone who may have been a victim in this case to examine the items, and reach out to their office at 209-468-4424 if any of the items look familiar.
