“On 2/2/2023 at about 1000 hours, Crescent City Police Department Officer Miller, Officer Sperling, SGT Lopez, and K9 Lt. Kai, responded to the area of E. Hoover Ave and Breen Street for a report of suspicious persons moving around in the wooded area.

When officers arrived, they contacted Justin Carr, (age 36), in a vehicle on a public easement.

Upon contact with Carr, Officer Miller saw what appeared to be a baggie of suspected methamphetamine in plain sight in the vehicle. Carr was detained by Officer Sperling while Lt. Kai conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle for narcotics odor, which Lt. Kai alerted to. Carr was also on Post Release Community Supervision at the time of the incident.

A subsequent search of the vehicle and Carr yielded approximately 15.83 grams of suspected methamphetamine, an illegal weapon (butterfly/switchblade knife), drug paraphernalia, over 28.5 grams of marijuana, and additional knives prohibited by Carr’s PRCS terms.

After further investigation, Carr was arrested and booked into the Del Norte County Jail for the following offenses:

HS 11378, Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales, HS 11379, Transportation for Sales, PC 1203.2, Probation Violation, PC 21510, Possession of Weapon (butterfly/switchblade knife), HS 11377, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and HS 11364 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.”
