“Excellent investigation and follow-up by our deputies on the graveyard shift led to the recovery of a theft victim’s property before they even knew it!

A Placer County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residential neighborhood in Auburn for attempted vehicle theft, where surveillance video showed a male entering the victim’s truck and looking through the cab. Several minutes later, the suspect got into a different truck that was towing a large flatbed trailer and left the area. The deputy spotted the suspect exiting the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, following the suspect who eventually pulled over. Responding deputies detained the suspect and began their investigation. Deputies learned the suspect had stolen the truck he was driving; they contacted the registered owner of the truck to inform him of the recovery – the owner had not realized his truck had been stolen. The suspect, 24-year-old Alvin Huynh, was arrested for vehicle burglary, vehicle theft, and vandalism.

Friendly reminder: Please lock your car doors and do not leave any valuables in sight!”
