“On Monday January 16, 2023, at approximately 8:44 p.m., a deputy from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Wasco Substation, conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a vehicle near the intersection of Poso Drive and F Street in Wasco. During the traffic stop, deputies identified the driver as Alexis Garcia (22-year-old male from Shafter) who was believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a loaded assault rifle and additional ammunition. At the conclusion of the traffic stop, deputies served a search at Garcia’s residence in the 500 block of Martha Avenue in the City of Shafter.

During the search of Garcia’s residence, deputies located a loaded short barrel 12-gauge shotgun, two high-capacity magazines, and additional ammunition.
Garcia was subsequently arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for possession of a firearm while under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of an assault rifle, possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, and various additional charges.
