Man Arrested in Deadly Stabbing at Bakersfield Motel 6

BAKERSFIELD — A man suspected of stabbing another man to death during an argument inside a Bakersfield motel room is now behind bars.

Chad Kallevig was booked into the Kern County Jail’s receiving facility for one count of murder. He is being held without bail.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Kallevig was being sought by police after allegedly killing Justin Milner on Wednesday, August 12 at a Motel 6 located at 5241 Olive Tree Court in Bakersfield.

Deputies arriving on the scene said they found Milner suffering from a single stab wound. Milner was transported to nearby Kern Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Homicide detectives responded and quickly developed information that Milner had been in a fight with Kallevig who, after stabbing Milner, ran away from the motel.

An arrest warrant was issued, and on August 13, deputies located and arrested Kallevig at a residence in the area of 24th and “B” Streets, without incident.
