“On Thursday January 19, 2023, at approximately 02:30 a.m., deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Wasco Substation were dispatched to the 600 Block of North Maple Avenue for a shooting into an occupied vehicle that had just occurred. During the investigation, deputies identified the suspect as Nestor Jose Perez, age 33.

At approximately 0840 hours, deputies located Perez in the 2200 Block of Camellia Street where he was placed under arrest. After placing Perez under arrest, deputies served a search warrant at Perez’ residence in the 2200 Block of Camellia Street in relation to the investigation.

Perez was subsequently transported to the Kern County Jail where he was booked in this case and his three active bench warrants. Perez was arraigned in this case on 1/23/2023 and is currently charged with attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting from a vehicle, and stalking.
