Gold medal stolen from Olympian Jordyn Poulter’s car; reward offered for its return

A man with “lengthy criminal history” has been arrested after he allegedly burglarized several items—including an Olympic gold medal——including an Olympic gold medal—from inside a vehicle, according to Sergeant Jacob Gallacher of the Anaheim Police Department.

The suspect, 31-year-old Jordan Fernandez of Anaheim, was arrested about two weeks after the incident and booked on several charges, including first degree residential burglary, second degree vehicle burglary, felony identity theft, and felony possession of narcotics.

The vehicle burglary occurred on May 25th. Jordyn Poulter, the starting setter for the 2020 U.S. Women’s Olympic volleyball team, informed police that several items had been stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in a garage on East Lincoln Avenue. Among the items stolen was the gold medal for women’s volleyball she had won at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Unfortunately, Jordyn’s Olympic Gold Medal has not yet been recovered and she is offering a $1,000 reward for its safe return, no questions asked,” said Sgt. Gallacher. “If anyone has information on the Gold Medal’s whereabouts, please contact the Anaheim Police Department at 714-765-1900 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.”
