Two arrested on suspicion of mass shooting threat against high school

An 18-year-old and a 17-year-old juvenile have been arrested in connection to suspected terrorist threats against Estancia High School.

On Monday, December 2, police were alerted to a social media post depicting an individual holding what appeared to be a rifle and captioned “Don’t go to school tomorrow.” A second post indicated there’d be a mass shooting at Estancia High School on December 5.

The school district was notified of the threats and worked with police to identify the suspects, one of which turned out to be a juvenile student at the school.

The original post was linked to 18-year-old Lenny Vega, who is not a student at the school.

During their investigation, police also recovered a BB gun air rifle, which was the gun used in the post.
