Suspected Arsonists Arrested for Brush Fires in Antioch and Bay Point

CONCORD – Investigators from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (Con Fire) arrested two suspected arsonists last month. Witnesses positively identified both suspects believed responsible for setting brush fires in Antioch and Bay Point.

Jason E. McGee, a 27-year-old transient, remains behind bars at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $150,000 bond. McGee was taken into custody in Antioch on March 21.

McGee allegedly set two fires in Antioch. Con Fire investigators apprehended him near a fire at Larkspur Drive and Hillcrest Avenue on March 21. Witnesses identified him as the suspect in this fire and another fire set on March 18.

McGee is scheduled to appear in court on April 7 to answer two separate arson charges. Another transient was arrested for allegedly setting two fires in Bay Point. Emanual E. Serrano, 25, is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $100,000 bond. Serrano was arrested March 22 near two separate vegetation fires, which occurred along Highway 4 in Bay
Point.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, witnesses reported seeing a man setting the fires, before he fled. Con Fire investigators searched the area and they observed Serrano running through a nearby field. With the aid of an aerial drone, Serrano was located hiding in tall vegetation on a hill.

Serrano is scheduled to appear in court on April 8 to answer two separate arson charges.
