“On Thursday, March 10, 2022 shortly after 5:30pm, the Madera County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a possible shooting in the 24000 block of Ingomar Drive in Madera.

When deputies arrived on scene, they located an adult female victim suffering from multiple, non- life threatening, gunshot wounds. Medical aid was rendered until EMS arrived on scene and transported her to a regional medical facility for treatment of her injuries.

During the initial search for the suspect, in an abundance of caution, residents in the immediate area of the incident were issued an emergency Shelter in Place Order.

Witness reports indicated the suspect crashed his vehicle into a nearby tree before fleeing on foot.

Eyewitness statements reported him walking to a main road and getting picked up by a second vehicle, described as a small dark colored compact car. Based on the timeline of the video footage, the suspect fled the area prior to the lockdown of the perimeter by law enforcement.

The suspect has been identified as Raymond William Richardson, a 22 year old Fresno resident. He is described as a black male adult, 5’11” 190lbs, shoulder length dreadlocks and last seen wearing red shorts. He remains outstanding at this time.

The preliminary investigation has revealed the suspect and victim are known to each other, and a verbal argument escalated to the shooting. Detectives have worked through the night gathering statements, collecting evidence, and building leads. Their investigation remains ongoing.

Sheriff Tyson Pogue states, “We would like to reassure community members that this was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence. We thank residents for their assistance and cooperation during our response to the scene last night and supporting the ongoing investigation.”

We are asking anyone that may have information relating to this case or the whereabouts of Richardson to please call our office at (559) 675-7770. Tips may also be emailed to MCSOTip@maderacounty.com.

Anonymous tips may be made through Valley Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867), or by texting “Tip MaderaSO” followed by your message to 888777.

Further information will be released when available.
