The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety has announced the arrest of a woman on suspicion of child abduction and vehicle theft.

29-year-old Luong Tammy Huynh is accused of stealing a 2008 Buick Enclave from the 500 block of North Mathilda Avenue in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 27th. A child, 2-year-old Jacob Jardine, was in the vehicle when it was stolen, police said.

By that evening, officers located the Enclave abandoned in a parking lot about four miles away. Jacob was also found, unharmed, inside the vehicle.

Investigators collected surveillance video from the area that implicated Huynh, who’d been a person of interest up to that point, in the vehicle theft and kidnapping.

The next day, February 28, police announced that Huynh had been located and arrested in San Jose the previous evening. She has since been booked on suspicion of vehicle theft and kidnapping.
