Merced PD: Suspect arrested in alleged strong-arm robbery, other suspect still at large

A Merced woman has been arrested as the primary suspect in a recent alleged strong-arm robbery, according to police.

Officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Way just after 2:30 AM on January 10th to investigate an alleged strong-arm robbery. The victim, a 28-year-old man, told police he’d been riding his bike when he was attacked by two individuals, whom he described as a Hispanic man and woman, who allegedly struck him over back of the head with a blunt object and stole his bicycle.

A woman riding a bicycle that match the description of the victim’s was soon located nearby. The woman, identified as 20-year-old Yenny Leyva, was then positively identified by the victim as one of the individuals who’d attacked him.

Leyva was arrested and booked at the Merced County Jail. The second suspect remains at large.
