MERCED // On the afternoon of August 18th, GVSU officers were alerted to the possible whereabouts of 31-year-old Carlos Maldonado Jr., the primary suspect in a robbery in front of California Liquor the previous day.

Merced PD reports that during the robbery, Maldonado pulled a knife on someone getting into their car, stole their cash, and fled the area.

Police were able to identify him while investigating and a warrant for his arrest was quickly secured.

Officers served the warrant on E 21st Street and Maldonado was decidedly not interested in going quietly, though to no avail.

He was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail for robbery and assault on a peace officer.
