Fentanyl operation stopped in Salinas

“This morning, the Property Crimes Unit with the assistance of the SWAT team and the Drug Enforcement Agency served search warrants at multiple locations in the county regarding a large scale fentanyl operation.
During the investigation, detectives determined 29-year-old Michael Edwards of Salinas was involved in manufacturing and distributing counterfeit prescription pills containing fentanyl.
Detectives located a clandestine lab, precursor chemicals, ecstasy, MDMA, fentanyl, methamphetamine, thousands of pills, firearms and a large amount of cash.
Edwards was arrested for manufacturing, along with other drug and weapon related offenses.
