Reports of Suspicious Activity Result in Arrest of Marina Man on Prowling Charges

MARINA, CA — A 66-year-old Marina resident was arrested Saturday evening after authorities received reports of suspicious activity in a local neighborhood earlier that morning.

On August 22, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the Marina Police Department was notified that an individual had attempted to open residential doors and was observed prowling in the area earlier in the day. Officers obtained video surveillance footage of the subject and initiated an investigation into the incidents.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., Marina Police officers located the individual walking through a neighborhood. Officers detained the man, who was positively identified as 66-year-old Roald Burks of Marina.

Law enforcement personnel took Burks into custody and transported him to the Monterey County Jail. He was booked on charges of prowling, in violation of Penal Code 647(h), and possession of drug paraphernalia, in violation of Health and Safety Code 11364(a).

Public records show that Burks has multiple prior arrests throughout Northern California dating back to 2016, including allegations related to controlled substances, possessing a stun gun as a felon, multiple DUIs, and several outstanding warrant holds.
