PERRIS – A call for service to the Lake Matthews Station about a home invasion robbery with a handgun brought immediate, comprehensive response to the 20000 block of Chalon Road in the unincorporated area of Lake Matthews. The 11:35 AM incident on June 30th deployed Perris Station Deputies, Riverside County Special Weapons and Tactics team, Sheriff’s Aviation, and the Sheriff’s K-9 team.

While arriving assistance blanketed the area, and then determined that a home-invasion robbery had not occurred – something entirely else of serious note revealed itself. Deputies uncovered “a 32-year-old
female victim with injuries consistent with an assault and a 70-year-old female victim with evidence of
elder abuse,” announced Sergeant Brandi Swan.

Authorities located a suspect, later ID’d as Alan Schofield, (21) male resident of Lake Matthews, near the
crime scene. As a result, “a search warrant was authored and executed for location of occurrence,” said
Sgt. Swan.

Arrested for Domestic Violence, False Imprisonment, and Elder Abuse – Schofield was booked into Cois
Byrd Detention Center. As the suspect is locked down on $50K bail, the investigation continues.

“See Something, Say Something,” said Sheriff Chad Bianco: Anyone with information is encouraged to
contact Deputy Robert Staggs of the Perris Station at (951) 210-1000 regarding ongoing case #PC211810025.
