HABITUAL RESIDENTIAL RECKLESS DRIVER APPREHENDED
Originally published as a South San Francisco Police Department Facebook post –
“Over the past two weeks, South San Francisco Police Officers received several citizen complaints regarding multiple vehicles driving dangerously and recklessly through a residential neighborhood near the 800 block of West Orange Avenue. Officers immediately began conducting directed patrols through this neighborhood.
On 02/13/2021, at approximately 03:25 AM, a uniformed South San Francisco Police Officer observed a silver vehicle doing donuts in the area of Fairway Drive and Ponderosa Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle and caused a solo-collision before quickly feeling the scene.
Officers located the vehicle and the adult male driver who lived within the neighborhood. The driver immediately fled from the vehicle on foot and attempted to enter the front door of his residence.
Officers investigating the reckless driving and hit and run collision struggled to overcome the driver’s resistance, and after several commands were voiced, a physical altercation ensued, where the driver assaulted uniformed officers on scene who were attempting to effect an arrest.
The driver was eventually detained and treated for minor injuries, before being placed under arrest for reckless driving, hit and run, resisting arrest, and battery on a police officer.
The South San Francisco Police Department would like to personally thank the community for providing information which led to the apprehension of a habitual residential reckless driver. Members of the public are strongly encouraged to contact the South San Francisco Police Department at (650) 877-8900, or the anonymous tip line (650) 952-2244, or via e-mail at tips@ssf.net, regarding any information which may pose risk to public safety.”
