SAN MATEO — The San Mateo Police Department has announced the arrest of a man who was reportedly caught with nearly 23 pounds of methamphetamine early last month.

Just before 8 AM on Thursday, October 3rd, officers patrolling the area of Los Prados Park along Casa De Camp came across an individual sitting in their vehicle who turned out to have an active warrant for their arrest.

It wasn’t long before officers developed reasonable suspicion that the man had been hiding narcotics in the car.

An SMPD K-9 unit alerted to the trunk, which was where police say the meth was found. The estimated value of the drugs is over $160,000.

The man, 26 year old Vladimir Magallan-Gallegos from Nevada, was arrested and booked at the San Mateo County Jail for violation of 11378 and 11379 (possession of a dangerous drug and transportation of a dangerous drug).’

The San Mateo Police Department urges anyone with information regarding people suspected of manufacturing or selling narcotics, to contact the San Mateo Police Department at (650) 522-7700.
