Update: Suspect Arrested in 2017 Double Homicide

“The deceased victims of Thursday night’s shooting (1/12/17) on the 500 block of Sunrise Street have been identified as Jose Luis Flores-Vargas, 27, and Alejandro Ramirez, 25. They are the 3rd and 4th homicide victims of 2017.
The 3 persons originally detained as a result of the initial investigation have been released, and at this time are not facing charges related to this investigation, which is still on-going.
On January 12, 2017, at approximately 9:00 PM, there was a shooting on the 500 block of Sunrise St. The shooting resulted in two deaths and two others injured with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The Salinas Police Department has 3 individuals detained and the investigation into their role in the shooting is ongoing. A press conference to provide further information on the shooting will be held at 4:00 PM today, at the Salinas Police Department.
Suspect Ryan Robert Meza (27) has been arrested in connection with a double homicide which took place in January 2017 on Sunrise St.
Meza is in custody at Monterey County jail where he has been booked on two charges of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
