Two inmates at the Modoc County Jail are facing new charges after allegedly attacking a corrections officer in a failed attempt to escape.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that, late on the night of November 8, 21-year-old Christopher McClure and 27-year-old William Breaux lured a corrections officer to the back of a housing unit during a security check and attacked him, attempting to take his keys. Two other inmates intervened to stop the attack.

McClure had been facing multiple felony charges including robbery, carjacking, and assault with a deadly weapon, while Breaux had been awaiting sentencing for receiving stolen property, driving or taking of a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving on a suspended license, and reckless evasion.
