Black Honda and white Honda flee, one is caught

The Morgan Hill Police Department relates this story of suspects in two different vehicles fleeing from a neighborhood after they were spotted messing with parked vehicles –

“During the early hours of Thursday morning one of our patrol officers responded to a call of males checking door handles on cars parked along 17000 block of Barnell Ave.

A neighbor yelled that the subjects were being recorded and they fled. An officer arrived moments later and saw a white Honda and a black Honda leaving the area. He conducted a records check and determined that the black Honda was reported stolen out of Gilroy. Police attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled. The two suspect vehicles traveled in different directions.

Officers converged on the known stolen vehicle and a pursuit was initiated. Our partners in the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office sent units to assist. The pursuit went to US 101 and the California Highway Patrol took over at our request.

MHPD officers returned to the city and made an attempt to contact the registered owner of the white Honda only to learn that his car was not in it’s usual parking spot! His car was the other unreported stolen vehicle on Barnell Ave.

CHP were able to stop the black Honda in San Jose on CA 87; however, the occupants fled on foot. They were eventually apprehended and MHPD responded and arrest the juvenile driver (17) and his 19 year old passenger.

Law enforcement agencies often have to partner with one another as we see more people suspected of criminal activity fleeing or fighting with officers. Thank you to our community members and our partner agencies in South County for your support.

Media Note: There is no other information being released on this investigation at this time.”
