A Prunedale-area man has been arrested after allegedly shooting a rifle out of a moving vehicle on New Year’s Day.

Salinas PD’s Violence Suppression Task Force (VSTF) was alerted to a video of 21-year-old Javier Placencia firing the rifle and obtained a warrant for his arrest, as well as a search warrant for his residence on the 14000 block of Russo Road.

Placencia is currently out on bail for a previous firearm arrest, which stipulates that he cannot use or possess firearms going forward.

When authorities searched his home, they recovered a shotgun, two rifles, ammo, and 96 hydrocodone pills.

Placencia was arrested without incident and booked at the Monterey County Jail.
