Concrete Block Unsuccessfully Thrown in Burglary Attempt

VALLEY SPRINGS – A man threw a concrete block at the door of the 76 gas station on August 1 at 4:00 a.m.

Deputies arrived to the scene of the incident and saw the shattered glass from the front door. He also saw the male suspect in the parking lot.

The officer detained 46-year-old Richard Haight. Video surveillance then connected him to the crime.

The deputy arrested Haight and charged him with attempted burglary, vandalism and meth possession.

In addition, he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant from Tuolumne county.

Finally, Haight allegedly assaulted another inmate while he was in custody, and thus face further charges.
