Man with Felony Warrants Allegedly Caught with Fentanyl in Calaveras County

A man with felony warrants was recently arrested after allegedly being caught with narcotics in Calaveras County.

Late on the night of May 29, deputies on patrol in the Valley Springs area reportedly spotted a man wanted on two felony warrants out of Sacramento County.

The man, identified as John Robert Blackwell, 37, was parked at a gas station on the 100 block of Highway 26, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A sergeant arrived at the scene and deployed a cross-trained narcotic detection canine, Titan, who reportedly alerted to the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle.

Deputies seached areas Tyson and indicated and allegedly discovered about 28 grams of suspected fentanyl, and illegal knuckle taser, suspected burglary tools, and several articles of mail from multiple other people.

Blackwell was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of possession of fentanyl for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
