Argument Goes Awry, Ends in Shooting

SALINAS — A shooting has resulted in one man being airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center and another taken to jail on Friday afternoon after an argument blew up. It is unknown what 50-year-old Paul Aledo and his victim were talking about before things went awry, but Aledo is now sitting in the Monterey County Jail on a charge of attempted murder.

That day, 911 received a call of a man lying on the railroad track suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.

The victim, still conscious and alert, was able to tell the officers who shot him and provide a detailed description, right down to the man’s nickname. Officers soon found Aledo still in the area. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Witnesses in the area claimed they’d heard the two arguing, followed by the sound of a gunshot. Aledo was then seen running from the area.
