SALINAS — Two people were arrested hiding under a house on Santa Teresa Way after they led police on a high-speed vehicle pursuit through North Salinas on Monday. Arrested were 29-year-old Robert Glaze and 26-year-old Patricia Anne Mayor.

On Monday morning at around 7:18 AM, an officer spotted a gold-colored Saturn driving with expired tags. When he attempted to conduct a stop, it sped off.

The driver also shifted into oncoming lanes once hitting Main Street. The vehicle narrowly missed several cars coming in the opposite direction and turned onto Chaparral Street towards North Salinas High School. Fearing for the safety of the children at the school, police called off the pursuit, but continued to follow from afar.

The driver then turned southbound on Linwood Drive towards El Gabilan School. Passing the school at a high rate of speed, the driver just missed another car head-on. The driver then threw a loaded .357 magnum out the window, which police then recovered.

Eventually, the vehicle was found still running in the 1100 block of Granada Avenue, but the driver or his passenger were nowhere to be found. A K-9 unit was then called in, who followed the scent to a broken fence leading to the backyard of a house in the 100 block of Santa Teresa Avenue. There, the K-9 alerted officers to a crawlspace under the house.

The K-9 immediately located Glaze and Mayor. Both were arrested after exiting the crawl space. Mayor was treated for minor injuries where the K-9 held her. The two were booked into the Monterey County Jail for felony evasion, among other charges.
