MONTEREY—The Monterey Police Department arrested a Seaside resident for sexually assaulting a woman at a local Spa in Monterey.  They arrested 31-year-old Jorge Mauricio Dominguez on Monday, January 13 and charged him with sexual assault.

On Sunday night, the Monterey Police responded to a report of a distraught woman in the street.  When police arrived they found a 57-year-old victim in the area of Kolb Avenue and Hannon Avenue. She told Police that she had been sexually assaulted while at the Spa on Kolb Avenue.

After investigation, police learned that the suspect initially attempted to break into the Cypress Massage Parlor on Casanova Street. After that attempt failed, he then went across the street and broke into the private area of the Sundance Spa, where he attacked the woman.  Police were able to get a description of the man from her and several witnesses that saw the incident.

In the early morning hours of the next day, a Monterey Police Officer was checking out a vehicle behind Jiffy Lube on Fremont Street when he noticed that the man who was with the vehicle matched the description of the rape suspect.  The man was later identified as Dominguez, who was transported to the Monterey County Jail.
