Man Arrested for Allegedly Kidnapping Woman in Newport

A man was arrested by Newport Beach police Friday for allegedly kidnapping a woman after having dinner with her, and holding her against her will at gunpoint, officials reported.

Bradley John King, 42, of Rhode Island kidnapped a woman in the area of 28th Street and Balboa Boulevard after the two had dinner and drinks on Thursday and later got into an argument, police said.

“The argument escalated and at approximately 7:15 p.m., King forced the woman into his vehicle,” Jennifer Manzella, police spokeswoman, said in a released statement. “When the victim attempted to exit the vehicle, King forcibly detained her and pointed a firearm at her head.”
