Pursuit Ends in Parolee Arrest

A man was taken into custody on Sunday, May 5, after leading officers on a pursuit in south Sacramento County while driving a stolen car, according to an office press release from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

Robert Treadway

Robert Treadway, 32, was reportedly booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on four felony charges, including felony evasion of a peace officer, evading in a reckless manner while driving in opposite lanes, possession of stolen property and vehicle theft. He was also found to be in violation of his parole/post-release community supervision status, and is currently being held on $210,000 bail.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, shortly after 1 am on Sunday, a deputy attempted to stop the driver of a BMW for a traffic violation near 37th Avenue and Vista Avenue. The driver of the BMW reportedly failed to yield, turning off his lights and leading deputies on a chase through residential areas, during which he ran stop signs and red lights.

The driver eventually stopped the vehicle after several minutes and attempted to flee on foot. A perimeter was reportedly established and a search was conducted with the assistance of patrol units and K9 deputies. Within 15 minutes of running from the car, the driver — later identified as Treadway — was taken into custody as he hid outside a residence near 40th Avenue and Laurine Way.

Deputies reportedly checked the records of the vehicle Treadway was driving, and found it had been stolen during a residential burglary three days earlier.

Treadway was on probation from a 2011 arrest for stealing copper wire from street lights, and at the time was already on probation. This incident also included a high speed car chase which led to resisting arrest charges as well. In that incident, according to a report filed by CBS Sacramento, he and two accomplices had crashed and fled the scene on foot, and Treadway was captured alone.
