Fairfield man allegedly stole car left running in driveway

A Fairfield man was arrested after a CHP K-9 unit apprehended him Monday morning. The man was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and parole violation, according to Bay City News.

Shortly before 7 a.m., a Fairfield resident called Fairfield police and reported his car had been stolen from his residence on Dove Way, after he left it running in his driveway to warm it up on Monday morning.

According to Bay City News, officer Jimmie Williams of the Fairfield Police Department identified the vehicle as stolen as short time later. The vehicle was being driven west on Interstate 80 near the CHP scales and truck stop.

The driver, later identified as Fairfield resident Tiekie Robinson, exited on Red Top Road, stopping in a parking lot.The driver would not follow officer commands and appeared to be getting ready to flee. A CHP K-9 unit that was at the scene apprehended the suspect. Inside the vehicle police found a laptop that was stolen during a home burglary on Sunday, according to Bay City News. Robinson was booked at the county jail.
