Burglars Busted After Hitting Same Store for the Third Time

May 18, 2022 – Ventura County, Ca.
Obviously unaware of the eternal verity of the adage “third time’s the charm,” Oxnard residents Ryan Taylor and Brooke Scheer appear to suffer from a compulsion to push their luck.

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Deputy Brett Scott, approximately three weeks ago, in late April 2022, deputies attached to the Moorpark Station responded to a reported retail store theft of “several boxes containing power tools.” An employee of the store described “a male suspect” who entered the store, gathered an armful of
merchandise, and exited the premises to a waiting getaway car driven by a female accomplice.

One week later, Moorpark deputies were alerted by “the same store employee” reporting the identical crime perpetrated by the same male suspect who escaped in “a white Toyota sedan with stolen license plates.” This time, witnesses observing the crime taking place were able to provide deputies with photographs of Taylor and Scheer. With witness descriptions and photos in hand, detectives then alerted “multiple law enforcement agencies throughout Southern California” to the activities of the then unidentified suspects.

Less than a week after that, on May 12 th , Taylor entered the same retail store and walked out with more power tools valued at approximately $900. This time, a store employee “captured a video” of Taylor as he climbed behind the wheel of the vehicle in which Scheer was waiting.

Taylor immediately sped through the shopping center parking lot and promptly “violently collided with another vehicle, causing injury to the other driver” and then continued to careen out of the parking lot and onto the public streets.

By that time, VCSD patrol units an deputies from the Sheriff’s Gang Unit and the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit were in pursuit. The cops ultimately caught up with the getaway car and took Taylor and Scheer into custody. Taylor and Scheer were transported to Ventura County Jail, where they were booked on violation of existing bail terms, burglary, vehicle theft, conspiracy, resisting arrest, delaying a peace officer, and obstructing a police investigation.
